Guinness Tradfest Debut for 'The Black Lung Project' featuring Ríoghnach Connolly and guests
Sean-nos singer and flute player 'Ríoghnach Connolly' performs a special night of tradional Irish music featuring some of Manchester's premier Irish musicians. Tonight's line up includes the award winning Angela Durcan on Banjo and Mandolin. Róise Connolly on Concertina, Fiona Brown on Uilleann Pipes, Flute and Vocals. Plus Ben Cashell on Cello
and Ellis Davies on acoustic Guitar. Guest musicians are welcoe at the post concert session, so don't forget your instruments.
Ríoghnach founded the Black Lung project began when she was a member of the Armagh Piper’s Club. After collaborating with many different genres and on eclectic and alternative/ independent circuits she brings all her loves under the one roof…just to see what happens…”
Through her performances with Honeyfeet, and collaborations with the Cinematic Orchestra's Stuart McCallum, Connolly has already set a high standard as a band leader and vocalist. Often confounding audiences with her “audacious” talent. With her new solo project Black Lung, Connolly finally has the perfect medium for her soaring vocals – Cello, Saxophone, Piano, Double Bass, Tabla, Kit, Uilleann Pipes, Bódhran, Banjo, Button Accordion, Guitar, Flute and Fiddle, providing a 'spell-binding' platform for Ríoghnach to weave centuries-old stories of love and loss, treachery and murder, and to hypnotise the way that only folk music can.
One of the livelier venues on the Levenshulme bar scene, the m19 bar and venue regularly hosts live music and other events on the first floor.
A good selection of cocktails and drinks, a late licence and party nights with music from the legendary DJ Tommy Dee make this a popular bar in Levenshulme.
